At Brodie Family Dental, we place great importance on hygiene and cleanliness in the interests of both patients and staff.

Instruments and Equipment
We clean and sterilize all instruments and equipment which are able to with-stand the extreme temperatures required to fully sterilize. Any other instruments that are not autoclavable are disposed of after each patient.

Each patient tray is individually set up prior to each appointment and instruments are not unwrapped until just before use.
Instruments are put through an intensive 40-minute cleaning cycle prior to being individually packed and sealed in sterilizing pouches ready for the autoclave.

Siltex Autoclave
The Siltex Autoclave sterilizes to a temperature of 134° (degrees) and complies with Australian Standards. Each cycle is recorded by the data recorder attached to the side of the machine and a printout is kept on file.

During each cycle, a steam test indicator is placed in the autoclave to ensure the correct temperature is met and maintained during the cycle.
